Did you know that Porterville is home to the world’s largest distributor of re-blooming iris? Sutton’s Iris Garden is something to see. Added to that, Porterville also has an Iris Festival held annually in late April and drawing more than 20,000 visitors to the city. The festival is a celebration of Porterville’s official city flower, the purple iris.
Porterville Garden Club
The Porterville Garden Club is a non-profit organization drawing like-minded people together and working together to fund scholarships for local youth. Members attend luncheon meetings and have informational speakers.
UCCE Tulare & Kings Master Gardeners
The UCCE Tulare & Kings Master Gardeners program is great for all levels of experience when it comes to gardening and landscaping in Tulare and Kings County. They offer a mix of hands-on training and classroom instruction with a mission to provide knowledge and information on home horticulture, pest management, and sustainable landscape practices to the residents of Porterville, Tulare County, Kings County, and throughout the Central San Joaquin Valley. They sponsor popular events including the Tulare Garden Festival, Earth Day Visalia, weekly farmer’s markets and tool care and maintenance days.
