UCCE Tulare & Kings Master Gardeners
The UCCE Tulare & Kings Master Gardeners program is great for all levels of experience when it comes to gardening and landscaping in Tulare and Kings County. They offer a mix of hands-on training and classroom instruction with a mission to provide knowledge and information on home horticulture, pest management, and sustainable landscape practices to the residents of Tulare County, Kings County, and throughout the Central San Joaquin Valley. They sponsor popular events including the Tulare Garden Festival, Earth Day Visalia, weekly farmer’s markets and tool care and maintenance days. They also publish a book called “A Gardeners’ Companion,” written specifically for gardening and landscaping in the Central California Valley and contains seasonal information for planting, harvesting, pruning, and maintenance for the unique climate of Tulare County and the Central San Joaquin Valley. Woodlake Botanical Garden
One of Tulare County’s treasures and a must-see place for landscape and gardening fans, the Woodlake Botanical Gardens (formerly called the Bravo Lake Botanical Gardens) is a wonderful place to explore and learn about fruits and vegetables, flowers, and trees of the San Joaquin Valley’s agricultural bounty since 2003. Its 13 acres of plantings extol the area’s botanical diversity, teach people about the value of natural resources while promoting community pride.

Country Garden Radio
If you spend a lot of time on the road (or maybe out in the garden) another great way to get your home landscaping and gardening information for Tulare and the surrounding area is by listening to Country Garden Radio, Central California’s garden talk radio on KERN radio 1180. Country Garden Radio is hosted by Dale Edwards and Lindsay Ono, and they have a lot of fun talking about everything from turf to trees, plants to ponds, and anything else listeners ask about.
